On the very first day of our stay at Manali we decided to visit the famous tourist attraction of this hill station, i.e. the Rohtang Pass. Both my kids were extremely happy to get an opportunity to experience the snow and chill of this destination. We started off early from the Hotel Rajhans where we had booked our stay.
I made sure my kids were fully covered with warm clothes as I knew the weather was going to be very cold at such high altitudes. The Rohtang Pass is a high mountain pass which is located eastern Pir Panjal Range of the great himalyas. It lies at a distance of about 51 kilometres from Manali. Connecting the Kullu Valley with the Spiti and Lahaul valleys of the state of Himachal Pradesh this pass has great tourism as well as military significance.
The Rohtang Pass is open for commutation from the months of May to November. It is indeed a very beautiful and divine place to visit. Unfortunately this site has a reputation for being dodgy due to unpredictable blizzards and sand storms that are a frequent phenomenon in this region. The beauty of this area is inexpressible via words. There is a splendid waterfall on the way to Rohtang and whole of the pass was surrounded by the majestic Himalayan ranges.
The snow covered view of the mountain peaks were an unimaginably gorgeous site. The place was flooded with tourists from all over the world. The sheets of snow that were spread over the whole area gave it an extraordinary sheen. I must call it as white paradise. Moreover I must not forget to mention the delicious foods that are offered by the roadside dhabas and eateries that are located on the Leh Manali highway on the way to the Rohtang pass. It was truly a treat for the senses to visit this beautiful and exquisite tourist destination near Manali.
There are a number of tourist rest spots at the South of the pass and a wine shop is also available on the way to the pass to add to the convenience of tourists so that they can survive the chill of the region. We all had a great time at this location and were looking forward to our stay at Manali.
