A Visit to Hussain Sagar Lake – The Treasure of Hyderabad

Once we were done with the trip to the Qutub Shahi tombs, it was already evening. So we decided to visit the Hussain Sagar Lake, which is one of the biggest picnic spots and star attractions of the city. The lake is one of the biggest manmade lake and also one of the most magnificent. The Lake also serves as the border between the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

A gentle cool breeze hits the person as they enter the boulevard. The lake was built by the sufi Saint Hazrat Wali Shah whose grave we saw at the Qutub Shahi tombs. This is why the lake is named after him. It was certainly one of the most visited areas of Hyderabad as there are number of tourists and locals who come here to spend some moments with their friends and family.

The biggest attraction of the Lake is the majestic statue of Lord Buddha which is located in the middle of the lake. The view of the statue in the evening from the boulevards was amazing. It was a sight worth capturing in our cameras. One can take part in many activities while visiting the lake. We took part in some water games and also tried boating. Cultural programs are also organised there almost every month.

The Lumbini Park located near the lake is a famous spot to take an evening stroll. It also has a small playing area for kids. The Birla temple is also situated in close proximity to the Lake. One can also enjoy the local street food and other Hyderabadi cuisines at number of food joints which are located near the Lake. We had a wonderful time at the Lake and clicked many pictures. The Lake is a treasure for the city and it was good to see that it is preserved by the government.

Our trip to Hyderabad came to an end after this visit. We were ready to go back to our routine lives back in Puri. The memories of this place were captured by our cameras and in our hearts. The place certainly inspired us to visit it once again sometimes in future.
